Good news hot sauce fans! There will be three varieties of Blue Truck Hot Sauce available the morning of Friday Sept. 27. Fresh bottles of Velvet Hammer, Tropical Kiss, and South of Heaven, $6 each. Cash, Venmo to Jon-Swanson-26 (last 4 digits 6703), or PayPal jonswan2001@yahoo.com. No shipping, first come, first serve.
I appreciate your patience and understanding this year. I lost over 200 pepper plants to the flood this spring and heavy rain kept me from planting at Featherstone Farm this year. I replanted everything in July, and was 6 weeks behind schedule, but the weather has been perfect, so I have been harvesting gorgeous peppers this week. Lots more batches on the way.
Flood 2024 update (June 29)
Gardening and farming are always a balance between hope and risk, and with our massive rain levels and flooding River, several of my garden plots at Prairie Island Campground are being flooded and I stand to lose more than 100 beautiful pepper plants. I did however harvest more than 200 garlic plants this morning, a couple weeks early, but the bulbs are beautiful.
More bad news, I have not been able to plant my production plot of 600 peppers at Featherstone Farms because their fields are waterlogged from heavy rains and they cannot prepare beds for planting. My greenhouse is full of peppers and ready to go once the field dries out.
What does all this mean? Hot sauce production will be later this year with fewer bottles available. Stay tuned and I'll update what is available for sale and when. Thanks you for your patience and understanding.
